Chime v5 integrating with Atlassian JIRA

Get Atlassian JIRA Connector Credentials

To integrate Chime v5 with your Atlassian JIRA instance following details are required:

  1. JIRA instance URL
  2. Service account username
  3. API token for service account

Create Service Account in Atlassian JIRA

Steps to create Atlassian JIRA Service Account are as follows:

  1. Login to your JIRA instance with an account which has User Management rights
  2. Select Administration > User Management
  3. Select Invite Users
  4. Enter the email address of the Service Account that you want to create
  5. Select the Send button to send the invitation
  6. Follow the steps sent across in email to provision Atlassian JIRA Service Account
  7. Assign service account agent role

Create an API token for Atlassian JIRA Service Account

Steps to create API token are as follows:

  1. Log in to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens with Service Account credentials

  2. Click Create API token

  3. From the dialog that appears, enter a memorable and concise Label for your token and click Create

  4. Save generated token

Update Chime v5 Configuration

  1. Navigate to Admin -> Chime Settings -> JIRA section
  2. Input Credentials
  3. Test Connection
  4. Save settings

After specifying JIRA connection details, chat pipelines will need to be updated to show ticket listing.
