Getting started as a Chime V5 tenant admin

As a tenant admin, you have a role for managing tenant configuration which managers and agents don’t have access to. For example:

  • Onboarding the first set of users
  • Setting up the tenant default pipeline
  • Setting custom web client
  • Managing user roles

This document will try to introduce you to these items and how you can get started as an admin.

Onboarding the first set of users

Once you received your tenant URL, username and password, you will have access to your tenant admin UI. The first thing that you would want to do here is to onboard your managers and agents. Follow the steps below to start your onboarding:

  1. Login from your tenant URL https://app.imchime.com/your_tenant_name
  2. Navigate to Admin > Security > Users
  3. Click Add User
  4. Fill out the username, email, password, and select the role of the user
  5. Click Save

We recommend that you only invite managers and delegate inviting agents to them.

Setting up the tenant default pipeline

Pipeline controls your chat workflow. You could have multiple pipelines in your tenant. But only you, admin, can set which one is the default pipeline for your tenant.

  1. Go to Admin > Tenant Settings > Chat Pipeline
  2. Click the dropdown under Chat Pipeline to select your default
  3. Click Save

We will set this configuration by default. You do not need to change this if the default pipeline we set meets your requirements.

Setting custom web client

The Chime web client enables users to initiate a chat directly from their web browser, providing a user interface separate from Microsoft Teams that allows them to interact with your tenant pipeline (chat workflow) and/or agents. This web client can be further customized using CSS and JavaScript to fit your specific needs. In this section, you will learn how to select a custom web client for your tenant.

  1. Navigate to *Admin > Tenant Settings
  2. Under the Basic tab, click the Web Client Theme Settings dropdown
  3. Select the custom web client
  4. Click Save

And the following steps will show you how to add custom CSS and JavaScript to your web client.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Chime Deployment > Base Chat Themes
  2. Click on the custom web client you have selected for your tenant
  3. Update the CSS and JS
  4. Click Save

Managing user roles

As an administrator, you have the authority to manage users and their roles within your tenant. This includes the ability to modify a user's role such as upgrading an agent to a manager. In the following steps, we'll guide you through the process of updating a user's role to ensure that they have the appropriate level of access and permissions.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Users > Content > Roles > Edit
  2. Select which role you want to assign to the user
  3. Click Save
